Stomach growth and far before the lunch break – one or the other hunger is loud. But why is that actually?
It actually always comes to the lack of time: the eyes of all listeners are directed towards a lecture or in the meeting it is suddenly silent. Until the stomach brings the silence noisy. The stomach growls. Whenever it happens, it’s a little embarrassing. But the gastric growth cannot be turned off because the digestive tract works continuously.
How does gastric growl?
The gastrointestinal tract never takes a break, it is constantly on the move. Singles, stomach and intestine pull together a day from waves. This processes and transported the chewing porridge, stomach juices, secretions from bile and pancreas. If the stomach does not get any food for many hours, he growls. But unlike what you might imagine, the tube -shaped organ is never completely empty. The stomach produces gastric juice and saliva from mouth and throat flowing down into it.
When swallowing, some air always gets into the stomach. If there is no food in the stomach that needs to be processed, a cavity is created. The stomach continues to work, contracts and slips again. The air in the stomach fits into vibrations and creates a sound: the stomach growl. So it is a good sign because digestion is intact and works well. On the other hand, if the stomach is full of food, the noise is steamed and not so loud.
Does the stomach growl only when hungry?
In fact, the mere thought of food can make the stomach growl. If you think of food, also see or smell your favorite dish, you can vibrate your gastrointestinal tract. And the movement becomes noisy. But the stomach not only speaks to draw attention to its low level. It may also be that too much air has been swallowed or that a difficult to digest food growls, bubbling or gulp. By the way: If the noises come from a little further down, it is not the stomach, but the intestine, which is noticeable. The noises arise from contraction when gases and food move through it.
Are there any tips on how fewer noises arise?
- If you want to prevent the stomach from growling loudly, you should not think of your favorite food, but should distract yourself. For example, consciously think, meditate or drink something else.
- The next meal should be better enjoyed. By speaking gives more air into the stomach and that favors the noises.
- A regular food intake prevents the stomach from becoming empty and the air in the cavity is vibrating and letting the stomach growl.
- Maybe one or the other has already said it as a child: chewing the food well. If the food is chewed well and are therefore nicely crushed, the gastrointestinal tract is easier for digestion. The effect: less movement is necessary to digest the food.
