Almost everyone gets caught sooner or later. Then the middle of the body becomes softer, fat pads appear on the sides, and a small belly bulges out. With men it even has a nickname: “Dad Bob”. It is the loving name for the bacon on the stomach. Incidentally, there is no such nickname for women ‘s bellies – they just get fat.
The organs are wrapped in fat on the abdomen
But it doesn’t matter, because the following applies to all genders: a big belly is particularly dangerous. Because if fat accumulates there, it envelops organs, incessantly secretes messenger substances and causes dangerous inflammation throughout the body. These little fires are far from harmless. They are suspected of being the trigger for diseases of the cardiovascular system, autoimmune diseases such as multipe sclerosis as well as rheumatism and even cancer.
We have seen the consequences clearly for many years. The majority of Germans are overweight, especially their abdominal girths have increased in recent years. In men more than in women. With them, 60 percent is too heavy, with women at least 47 percent. High blood pressure, diabetes and arteriosclerosis are steadily increasing in the population. All of them are diseases that are caused by poor diet. Women are hit harder than men. According to a study by the Robert Koch Institute, more women than men in Germany are affected by such diseases.
So the diagnosis is clear: the stomach has to go. But how? We’ll talk about that in the new episode of our running podcast “She’s running. He’s running.” Together with my co-host Mike Kleiss I answer the question: How does a healthy diet work. So much can be revealed here. It is not so hard. Because the equation is simple but powerful: bad food makes us sick, healthy food keeps us healthy and protects us. This applies not only to runners, but to everyone.
Diets are out – losing weight is best achieved without compulsion
One of the most important realizations of the last few years, about which we talk in detail, is that if you want to lose weight, you shouldn’t force your body. But follow the laws of nature. Neither a hyped fashion diet nor strict fasting or hard renunciation lead to success in the long run. Controlling yourself all the time just doesn’t work. On the contrary, if you torment yourself like that, you will quickly get fat again. Often also because he or she finally treats himself or herself to something after a diet.
