Shiatsu is said to relieve pain. A field report

During a Shiatsu treatment, the therapists often use their body weight in a targeted manner. They exert pressure with the aim of inducing deepest relaxation in the patient.

Gisela Grobusch welcomes her patients with a sea view. Only as a picture, not in real life – but who would expect that here, in a therapy center in Hamburg’s Rotherbaum district? Between sand dunes and waves, the 57-year-old offers shiatsu treatments. When she talks about the advantages of the method, she likes to compare it with a short vacation by the sea: Both help to broaden your perspective, to arrive in the here and now, to escape the small things of everyday life, to reduce stress – in short: your head blow hard once.
