Beware of hand dryers in public toilets? At least the epidemiologist Eric Feigl-Ding warns of this.
He shares a TikTok video examining pathogen emissions from various hand dryers.
The result: After washing your hands, it is best to simply shake your hands dry.
The epidemiologist also recommends this: “Investigations show that these dryers suck in and blow out faecal aerosols.”
But the background also includes: The video was produced by a supplier of UV disinfection devices. That’s not neutral.
So how should you wash your hands in public restrooms?
In fact, the Federal Center for Health Education recommends the use of disposable towels: “Disposable towels are best for this in public toilets. Everyone should use their own personal towel at home.”
The following applies: Then dry your hands carefully, including between the fingers.
