Will there be another corona lockdown? “Certainly not”, at least for those who have been vaccinated and for genesis, says Health Minister Jens Spahn. He thinks the 2G rule is a “sensible way”.
Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) has ruled out another lockdown for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. In the ARD “Tagesthemen” the minister replied on Monday to the question of whether there will be a lockdown in autumn: “Certainly not for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered”. Spahn considers the 2G rule, according to which vaccinated and convalescent people can receive certain advantages, to be a “sensible way”. “Vaccinated and genesis should have it much easier,” he emphasized.
In response to the debate about new rules in the corona pandemic, Spahn said it was not the case that “the incidence value is no longer a benchmark”. But there has been a “clear vaccination progress” and now the number of those admitted to the hospital is also being taken into account. When asked, Spahn did not give an exact number from how many corona patients admitted to the hospital new restrictions could apply.
Hospitalization rate new important benchmark
Spahn had previously stated that the federal government wants to remove the incidence value of 50 as a central criterion for pandemic protection measures from the Infection Protection Act. The CDU politician named the so-called hospitalization rate as an important new benchmark. It indicates how many people have to be hospitalized because of a corona infection. This value should play a central role in the future.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, the hospitalization rate is currently 1.3 per 100,000 people within seven days. At the height of the corona pandemic, it was over ten in Germany.
The envisaged move away from the incidence value as a criterion for pandemic restrictions could have practical consequences for everyday life: The point in time at which the responsible authorities issue new restrictions in the fight against the pandemic could be postponed. The current Infection Protection Act provides for special measures from an incidence of 50 onwards at the regional level. From a value of 100, uniform national rules apply.
