RKI: The seven-day incidence continues to rise to 74.1

Again, the RKI reports an increase in new infections with the corona virus. There were more than 8,400 new cases within 24 hours. Younger age groups in particular are affected.

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen further and is now 74.1. Nationwide, 8,416 new infections were registered within 24 hours, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported on Sunday morning. The number of deaths during this period was twelve.

So far, the seven-day incidence – the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week – has been the decisive benchmark on which the federal and state corona measures are based. But this is about to change: The federal government is currently preparing an update of the Infection Protection Act, according to which in future the occupancy rate of the hospitals will play the central role instead of the incidence value.

Corona: beginning of the fourth wave

According to the RKI, the total number of corona infections recorded in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic increased to 3,932,547, and the number of deaths to a total of 92,130. According to the RKI, the number of people recovered is 3,726,700.

According to the RKI, Germany is now at the beginning of the fourth corona wave. Younger age groups are also badly affected this time.

New RKI numbers: the seven-day incidence continues to rise, rising to 74.1

The seven-day incidence among 15 to 34 year olds was 115 per 100,000 population. That is almost twice as high as the nationwide comparison value 66 in the total population. However, there are major regional differences.
