It depends on the product: vegetable protein is considered to be healthier than animal protein. According to studies, it appears that people live longer if they eat more protein from plants than from animal products. In addition to proteins, fiber, vitamins and other nutrients also play a role. They are more likely to be found in protein sources with natural structures, such as nuts, legumes, lentil patties in which whole lentils can still be seen, or in tempeh, which contains whole soybeans. Unfortunately, the newer, particularly “meaty” substitute products are usually highly processed finished goods with plenty of fat, salt and various additives.
