In addition to a good salary and family-friendly working hours, anyone looking for staff increasingly has to come up with new ideas to fill vacancies. In a Franconian clinic they try to use free company cars.
Nursing staff are provided with an electric car free of charge in the Aschaffenburg-Alzenau clinic and the employer also bears the costs for insurance, maintenance, repairs and charging the vehicles with electricity, as the clinic reports in a press release.
“We would like to support our nursing staff! They have a demanding job and we would like to take care of them,” explains Sebastian Lehotzki about the project. “Such a vehicle is a very practical support in everyday life and also expresses our appreciation for the employees.”
60 to 80 new nurses wanted
The hospital has concluded a leasing contract with the vehicle manufacturer Mazda for around 600 fully electric Mazda MX-30. The cars would be made available to employees, initially free of charge for two years.
According to the press release, with the decision to provide nursing staff with an electric car, the hospital also wants to make an active contribution to the traffic revolution. Lehotzki.adds: “With the 50 charging stations, we are trying to make it as easy as possible for employees to switch to electromobility.”
The Klinikum Aschaffenburg-Alzenau is a municipal hospital that, according to its own statements, is one of the ten largest hospitals in Bavaria, summarizes the specialist portal KMA. It has around 2500 employees. The sponsors are the city and district of Aschaffenburg.
Managing Director Lehotzki is pursuing several goals with his unusual deal, as he informed KMA. Ideally, the offer would make his company so interesting as an employer that he would gain new nursing staff. Currently, 60 to 80 of the jobs in the care sector are vacant.
