A young man had remained perfectly healthy his entire life – until he suddenly suffered from fever, nausea and a rash. A doctor finds out what all this has to do with – and has to act quickly.
Recorded by Astrid Viciano
The man had been healthy all his life, I found out when I met him in the department of internal medicine. The patient who answered my questions in a friendly and caring manner was athletic, fit and slim. For a few days he had been suffering from fever and body aches, nausea and weakness. He therefore went to the emergency room, but was initially sent home with a suspected diagnosis of mild summer flu. Everything else seemed improbable to the colleagues with this quite young, perfectly healthy patient.
