About clouded leopards and jungle expeditions: veterinarian Hannah Emde and Eckart von Hirschhausen talk about the protection of rare animals, research trips to the rainforest and what intact nature has to do with health.
Eckhart von Hirschhausen
Hannah, why would a medical doctor like me talk to a vet?
I think we should all talk to each other a lot more, and especially in medicine. We are noticing firsthand how important it is for us to exchange ideas and work together, because there are diseases that are dangerous for humans and animals and can be transmitted between them.
The famous “zoonoses”.
Exactly. They’ve been on everyone’s lips since Corona. When we were studying veterinary medicine, we found the topic rather boring and thought: Oh no, zoonoses again … Today it’s the topic of health.
