The nationwide seven-day incidence of new infections with the coronavirus has again decreased slightly. The value is around 306 – the previous day there were 316. 462 deaths were reported.
After a slight increase in the nationwide seven-day incidence on Monday, the downward trend continues again: it has fallen again compared to the previous day. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Tuesday morning as 306.4. For comparison: the day before the nationwide value was 316.0, a week ago it was 375.0 (previous month: 372.7).
The health authorities in Germany reported 23,428 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from the figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 05:05. Exactly one week ago there were 30,823 infections. The number of reported infections has been falling for almost three weeks. However, experts fear an imminent trend reversal due to the highly contagious and rapidly spreading omicron variant.

According to the new information, 462 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 473 deaths. The RKI has counted 6,833,050 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.
The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Monday as 4.73 (Friday: 5.10). The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered on Tuesday at 5,866,900. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 108,814.
