The psychotherapist Sonja Unger has written a book about psychological “microtraumas”. Here she explains how stressful constant injuries can be and what helps those affected. At the same time, she warns against using the term trauma too carelessly.
Ms. Unger, what exactly do you mean by a Microtrauma?
The term comes from physiotherapy. These are minimal tissue injuries that do not have enough time to heal. This can also be transferred to the soul. Mental micro-injuries occur, for example, when we are insulted, insulted, devalued or humiliated – and also when we never experience recognition. Micro-injuries are insults that hurt your self-esteem.
