Coronavirus: According to the RKI, the incidence value continues to fall – more new infections

The Robert Koch Institute has again published a lower incidence value than the previous day. The number of new coronavirus infections, on the other hand, increased significantly. But the data situation is still unclear.

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has fallen again, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). However, the RKI made the restriction that the data could continue to provide an incomplete picture due to the low test and reporting activity during the holidays. The value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week was 205.5 on Wednesday morning. The day before it was 215.6, a week ago it was 289.0 (previous month: 442.9).

The health authorities in Germany reported 40,043 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. Exactly one week ago there were 45,659 infections.

Coronavirus kills 414 more

According to the new information, 414 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago, 510 deaths had been recorded. The RKI has counted 7,066,412 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.

In November, the federal and state governments set the so-called hospitalization incidence as the decisive benchmark for tightening the corona measures. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are in hospital within seven days because of a corona infection. According to the latest report on Tuesday, the nationwide hospitalization incidence was 3.25 (Monday 3.26).

According to the RKI, 6,277,400 people have recovered from a corona infection. According to the institute, the number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 111,219.
