A birth is one of the most intense moments in life. Not only for the parents and the person being born, but also for those accompanying the birth. Since 2023, Midwives no longer trained at vocational schools, but compulsory at universities. In future, only those who have studied the subject will be allowed to attend births; however, earlier years will still be allowed to complete their training at schools. Claudia Hellmers teaches at Osnabrück University. 15 years ago, she was appointed as the first professor of midwifery science in Germany.
