In the event of contact with an infected person, people who have been vaccinated twice are not automatically exempt from the quarantine obligation. How long they have to isolate themselves, however, differs from state to state. The quarantine rules at a glance.
“For vaccinated and recovered people, a quarantine obligation only applies in exceptional cases,” writes the Federal Ministry of Justice on its website. “Such an exceptional case exists, for example, if there was contact with a person who was infected with a virus variant that is dated and that is not yet widespread in Germany.”
In contrast, the “” clearly regulates: After a stay in a foreign risk area (simple risk area, high incidence or virus variant area) [ist] a special registration, proof and quarantine obligation must be observed. When entering from virus variant areas, there is a general ban on passenger transport by train, bus, ship and flight directly from these countries. But: “Vaccination and convalescence certificates can replace a negative test certificate and exempt you from the entry quarantine. This does not currently apply to previous stays in a virus variant area.”
How long vaccinated people who have had contact with an infected person in Germany have to be in quarantine differs from state to state. An overview of the applicable corona regulations:
Baden-Wuerttemberg
The for Baden-Württemberg does not differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated people. The following applies to everyone: The quarantine for people who are in close contact with those infected with corona does not end until a negative PCR test result has been obtained and the competent authority has given its consent. The regulation does not mention the exact duration of the quarantine.
Bayern
In Bavaria, people are after contact with Covid patients as soon as they have recovered or their second corona vaccination was more than 14 days ago.
Berlin
The capital: “Do you know that you have tested positive? Isolate yourself for 14 days from the test date.” The question of whether you are vaccinated or not does not arise here. In Berlin everyone has. How things continue after a positive corona test can differ between Weißensee and Dahlem.
Brandenburg
The dated June 15, 2021 states “Every person is obliged to refrain from physical contact with other people if there are typical symptoms or other indications of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.” An exact duration for a quarantine is just as little specified as a difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated. However, the districts and urban districts can still issue detailed regulations.
Bremen
In Bremen, people who have been vaccinated twice are exempt from the quarantine obligation if they have had contact with a person infected with corona. : “Travelers returning from simple risk areas have to go into quarantine for ten days. Those who have tested negative, vaccinated and recovered can end the quarantine prematurely from the first day as soon as they provide the health department with the relevant evidence. All return travelers: inside out Virus variant areas must be quarantined for a full 14 days without exception. “
Hamburg
Hamburg does not differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated people. It simply states that a positive rapid test must be followed “immediately” by a PCR test. “If the result of the PCR test is positive, the responsible health department is to be informed about this and the temporary isolation must continue until the health department makes a decision. If the health department makes individual quarantine orders, these take precedence. Tests negative, the obligation for temporary isolation ends. ” So here the health department determines the duration of the quarantine.
Hessen
The in Hessen stipulates an immediate home quarantine of 14 days for people with a positive PCR test result. This does not apply to people who have been vaccinated twice or who have recovered if they have not been in contact with a dangerous virus variant that is not yet widespread in Germany.
