For months, a woman is awakened by loud songs. But others don’t hear anything unusual. Is she going crazy?
Recorded by Nicole Simon
It happens regularly that patients in psychiatric hospitals hear voices. In this case, however, it was music. The elderly woman had been hearing songs for five months: sometimes Christmas music, sometimes folk songs or National Socialist songs that she knew from her youth. In the evenings and at night, the music was particularly loud. She had already called the police twice because she suspected “insolent” neighbors were behind the noise. One day, when the music started again, her grandson was visiting. But he didn’t hear what she was hearing and was worried. He brought his grandmother to us.
