In the USA, there is a certain amount of corona vaccination fatigue. However, there are people who regret not getting vaccinated, like Tate Ezzi: “We thought we were young and pretty healthy and if we got Corona it wouldn’t be that bad. But that was it.” Tate Ezzi and his wife Christine live near Little Rock, Arkansas and were expecting their sixth child last spring when they both began to struggle with severe Covid-19 symptoms. Christine had to go to a hospital. The disease keeps getting worse. It is connected to devices that are supposed to keep the oxygen level in the blood high. But the pregnancy no longer goes as planned. “All we know is that the baby was stillborn. At a certain point, the oxygen levels in the blood just got too low.” Tate also spent a few days in the hospital. And in retrospect, he would have wanted to be vaccinated against corona earlier. But especially in Arkansas there are still many opponents of vaccination who simply get false information. The specialist Dr. Jooby Babu emphasizes the benefits of vaccination: “It’s pretty obvious that people who are vaccinated won’t get symptomatic illness and are much less likely to be admitted with Covid.” Christine Ezzi has spent weeks in the hospital, most of all losing her sixth child. Her husband Tate therefore has a clear message for everyone: “Of course I want everyone to make their own decision. But I also want to tell my story. Because what happened to me can happen to anyone.”
