Tim Wohlberedt helps people achieve their desired weight. If you want to lose weight, different cutlery can sometimes help in everyday life.
This interview comes from the stern archives and first appeared in January 2024.
Mr. Wohlberedt, do you gain weight faster as you get older?
The basal metabolic rate – the energy the body uses even when completely resting – is highest in young adults in their 20s and then gradually declines. If we eat as much as we did when we were younger, we may gain weight. We can prevent this by adjusting our diet slightly or increasing our calorie consumption through more exercise. But this is often not so easy at an advanced age: we may no longer be as physically resilient. Therefore, it can be more difficult to actively lose weight at an older age. What I then convey to my patients: Sometimes it is a success if they maintain their weight.
