Germany has broken the ten million mark for the first time in the total number of detected corona infections. The incidence is now 1227.5.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 10,186,644 infections since the beginning of the pandemic on Wednesday morning. This is evident from numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m. The actual value is likely to be significantly higher because many infections are not detected.
In addition, the number of new corona infections transmitted to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day has risen to a new high. According to the RKI, the health authorities reported 208,498 cases in 24 hours on Wednesday morning. On Thursday, January 27, the number had exceeded 200,000 for the first time. A week ago there were 164,000 new infections recorded. The RKI gave the 7-day incidence as 1227.5. This is also a high. For comparison: the day before the value was 1206.2. A week ago, the nationwide incidence was 940.6 (previous month: 222.7).
Health authorities can no longer keep up with Corona reports
Experts assume that there will be a high and increasing number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data, partly because testing capacities and health authorities are at their limits in many places. In addition, some cities and districts have been reporting problems with the transmission of the number of corona cases for days.
According to the new information, 196 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 166 deaths. The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 4.59 on Tuesday (Monday 4.64). These may also include people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.
The RKI gave the number of recovered people on Wednesday morning as 7,789,600. The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 118,170.
