Why tea tree oil shampoo is supposed to relieve irritated scalp, scales and greasy hair

Its home is Australia: the tea tree is a popular plant from which leaves are obtained an essential oil that is said to have a healing effect.

In fact, the essential oil is not only obtained from a tree, but from the leaves of different types of tea tree. Due to its antiseptic, antibacterial and fungicides (mushroom killing) properties, tea tree oil is used as a remedy. But it is also becoming more and more used in natural cosmetics – for example in shampoos. The active ingredients contained therein are intended to relieve scalp irritation and counteract scales as well as greasy hair. Nevertheless, there are also some care instructions to consider here.

Tea tree oil shampoo: application and effect

Even if the positive properties of tea tree oil are undisputed, you should consider these points before the first application: The essential oils have a drying effect on the scalp, for this reason the shampoo is particularly suitable for fast fatty hair. Conversely, this also means that you have to enjoy the hair with caution when you tend to a dry scalp. In this case, it is advisable to use a tea tree oil shampoo only once every two weeks. This has the advantage that you can counteract it itching without drying out your scalp.

Tea tree oil shampoo is used like any other hair detergent. In order for it to have an effect, you should massage the product into the scalp with circular movements and have it briefly pulled in – this makes bacteria and fungi harmless, which can sometimes cause scalp irritation. Then carefully rinse the shampoo. If you don’t have a dry scalp, you can use the natural hair detergent regularly. Otherwise it is recommended to use tea tree oil for ordinary shampoo.
