When dreams come true: Landen is allowed to have this extremely enjoyable experience.
The eight-year-old is sworn in as the new police officer in the Northeast District Police Department of York County.
The boy, who has kidney cancer, always wanted to be a police officer.
Thanks to the non-profit organization Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania & West Virginia, his wish is now coming true.
The international organization fulfills the heart’s desires of seriously ill children with the help of donations. With Landen’s wish, the twenty thousandth wish comes true.
He spends his exciting day on patrol and even scouting a state police helicopter. The boy is fascinated by the police, he wants to help the good people and arrest the bad guys. His happiest experience: Landen arrests an actor disguising himself as a criminal, something he’s incredibly proud of. His illness seems to be forgotten for the day.
Landen’s rare kidney tumor is now in its third stage. At this stage, the chance of recovery is about 50 percent. Still, his mother is hopeful: even if Landen’s pain returns, the memories of that day as a police officer will help him persevere.
