The pill revolutionized contraception, but the medication is increasingly unpopular. An analysis of the Techniker Krankenkasse now looks at young people.
According to a study, the proportion of young women who prevent the anti -Babopille continues. According to a survey by the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), 26 percent of their insured persons between the ages of 13 and 21 took the pill last year, as the TK announced in Hamburg on Friday. In 2023 it was 28 percent, in 2020 the value was still 39 percent.
According to the TK, the strong regional differences are striking. While only 17 percent of young women received a recipe for the anti -Babopille in Berlin last year, it was 34 percent in Saarland.
“It is important to us that young people deal with the topic and make an informed decision together with their doctor,” said TK board member Jens Baas. It is not about demonizing the ropes of anti -Babe that it is still one of the safest contraceptives. At the same time, it could have side effects like any medicine.
Distribution of the pill goes back
According to the TK, studies show that some newer preparations have a higher risk of thrombosis due to the strombosis contained therein than other preparations. Around half of the pills users insured with Techniker Kranken-Kahlskasse took a preparation in 2024 with a comparison of higher risk of thrombosis.
For the study, the data of TK insured women between the ages of 13 and 21 were evaluated. The statutory health insurance companies cover the cost of prescription contraceptives such as the anti -Babopille until the 22nd birthday.
