Healthy eating is important, but not all nutritional trends are healthy. Klaus Nigl, head of the dietology course at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria, analyzes the meaning and nonsense of the current trends in the interview.

OÖN: People are shown on “Social Media” who eat particularly spicy, disgusting or a lot. How high is the risk of imitation?

Klaus Nigl: It is currently modern to eat particularly spicy. In Europe, we are more used to seasoning mild – in Asia, on the other hand, extremely spicy dishes are very common. If this is done in our latitudes, health problems can occur. I only think of those students in Germany who ended up in the hospital after enjoying super -sharp chips.
