Lula’s statement came after it became known that the former president’s advantage in voting intentions had been reduced by five points, to 40% against 31% for Bolsonaro, according to the latest DataPoder360 survey released today.
Lula criticized that the Court of Accounts of the Union (TCU) approved the first phase of the project for the sale of Eletrobras, one of the mainstays of the administration of the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.
According to a statement from the PT, the government is promoting the sale of the company for a sum equivalent to 13,000 million dollars, when the TCU itself had calculated that the value should be double.
Eletrobras owns the main hydroelectric power generation companies and owns 40% of the transmission lines.
In the same direction, although more emphatic, the president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, stated that the privatization of Eletrobras is a “crime against the country” and warned that she will go to court to object to the negotiation and the value placed by the Bolsonaro government.
The Brazilian government privatized during the Bolsonaro administration the company BR Distribuidora, owner of all Petrobras service stations, and is also trying to sell the Correios company, the largest postal firm in Latin America, to some of the global logistics players.
