“I take notes every night,” said Ried’s trade fair director Helmut Slezak in August 2005, a few days before “his” first big agricultural and autumn mass in the OÖN interview. Nothing has changed 20 years later. It will probably not be long before the block and ballpoint pen are placed next to the bed again.

In a little more than two months, the biggest event in the Innviertel starts. The Rieder Messe takes place from Thursday, September 4th to Sunday, September 7th. The folk festival (free admission) opens its doors from 28th to 31st August. The OÖN will be there again as a media partner this year.

“We started planning the approximately 500 exhibitor places a few weeks ago. The outdoor area is almost fully booked,” said Messe project manager Fabian Berneder in an interview with the OÖNachrichten.

Pöttinger has been coming since 1872

The total exhibition area, including amusement park, is around 140,000 square meters. “Demand in the field of agricultural engineering is still great. Of course, digitization and topics such as smart farming play an increasing role here. Of course, we are very broad again in the area of animal shows with cattle, horses, sheep and goats. At the autumn fair, the topics of nutrition, living and tools and machines are in high demand,” says Slezak. Many exhibitors have come to the big Rieder Messe for decades. “Some for more than 100 years,” says Slezak. The story goes back to 1867.
