Rocking in the heat: The Lido Sounds sweated two of the third edition on the day. Instead of downpours such as the start, there was cooling from water hoses on Saturdays. The emergency services pulled a positive interim balance, the visitors also seemed satisfied: the musical offer ranged from guitar skirt to quiet moments to radio. In the evening, the Latin pop, jazz and electric combiners Ca7riel & Amoroso and the French Dance duo Justice were expected.

Fiio Had the ungrateful task to open the musical round in the plump sun, corresponding temperatures and only slowly in. The domestic indie rocker gave an impressive taste of his work. Confident, powerful, with a fat guitar sound and with a charismatic Viennese voice, he presented songs like “Houston we have a problem” (new) and “Amor the little fucker” (older). “The strange, when you play the opener, is that you don’t know how many people you appear. That makes it exciting,” he liked to accept the challenge. In any case, the appearance stated that Fiio has now found his own style: “I hope to make music is always an experiment with itself.”
Completely different tones beat BAC to. The 19-year-old, born in Ethiopia and grew up in Villach, delighted with his “cuddly rap”, not to be pejorative, and decelerated pop sounds. It was sung and danced for a perfect sound for a summer day on the Danube. The latter also matched rosemary: Funk with soul voice, sometimes refined with saxophone, was announced when the German band from Kassel was performed and was well received.
Sad sweating
Mira Lu Kovacs Was already on stage at the first edition of the Lido Sound, at that time with My Ugly Clementine. On Saturday she presented her solo album “Please, Save Yourself”. The festival in Linz saw it ideal for this: “The bandwidth is very large here. There is a lot going on, it is not just a genre, not only one target group is addressed. That is why my projects are good.”

Kovacs has already tried the new material extensively live. But: “Festivals are always different – especially with the project that bears my name because it is calmer and creates more intimacy. But I looked that I rather exhaust the too calm numbers.” So was your setlist somewhat adapted to the circumstances of an open air? “Yes, but it’s still sad, it’s sad sweating today. I can’t bend just because summer, beach, Danube mood is. Nobody wants that either. I have great confidence in the lido audience that it shows very open to moments.” That was rewarded: Mira Lu Kovacs conjured up intimate atmosphere with beautiful songs in the hot afternoon with her band.
Uche Yara with outstanding home game
Local hero Uche yara gave her first home game with a band and left no doubt that she is one of the most exciting shooting stars: it may seem like a phrase, but the mere Mühlviertler actually created her own style. Stylistic building blocks from rock, electro, World and Pop added the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and outstanding singer, whose striking voice varies fluently within a song, to an exciting fresh sound. Whether rocking on the guitar or exuberant to Electro Dance sounds dancing, the artist’s stage presence stood out as well as her songs.
No “bird” on Lido Sounds
Before the program headed towards headliners, there were still Jeremias in the starting blocks. The German indie pop band has now achieved a loyal fan base, the fourth album “Trust”, which was released at the end of May, made it to second place on the German charts. In Austria it was only enough for 34th, but Jeremias filled the Vienna Gasometer twice on October 13 and 14, there are only few remaining tickets for the first appointment.
What is the group’s secret of success? “I have the feeling that there are no longer as many classic bands as we see each other,” said guitarist Oliver Sparkuhle. “We make music so much fun, it translates to the stage. All people are welcome to look at it and take part in there,” said Sparkuhle before the show in Linz. “Definitely” there is new material to be heard on the lido, but also well -known older pieces that are well known to fans. “It’s strange to say that, because our old songs are only four or five years old,” smiled singer Jeremias Heimbach. “Of course there are the songs on every album that are really well received live. You have to go with you every season because they bring the energy.”
Six pieces by “Trust” had already decoupled Jeremias as singles before the album release. “With these songs we knew that they worked live,” emphasized Heimbach. “In any case, ‘a bird’ stands out with the completely new ones, this is becoming more and more a favorite of the public. But with such short sets as today, the song is not well suited, so we don’t bring it today – but you will hear it at our two shows in the gasometer.”
