Against the considerations of the ÖBB to stop the operation of the Hausruckbahn and replace them with buses, stimulates in the region – across all parties and representations of interest. As reported, a train with fewer than 2500 passengers per day is not acceptable economically according to the ÖBB. The Hausruckbahn from Attnang-Puchheim via Ried to Schärding currently has 1200 passengers a day, the forecast was 1900, according to the ÖBB. The Innkreisbahn from Neumarkt via Ried to Braunau is much better frequented and therefore not questioned.
Regardless of the considerations for the Hausruckbahn, the Ried train station will be completely rebuilt by 2029 – including platform access, tracks and soft. The first work is already underway. A total of almost 97 million euros are planned for the renovation. The fact that one of the two routes that lead via Ried train station would be eliminated when a changeover of the house pressure on buses, the affected person in the region naturally comes up with: Almost 100 million euros flow into the Ried train station, at the same time one of the two railway lines should be closed?
Request by Gabriele Knauseder (SPÖ)
There are resolutions from the region to maintain the house backway, and the state parliament is also committed to this. However, there are also different perspectives within state politics. The SPÖ refers to the possibility that apparently offered itself a few years ago to take over the Hausruckbahn from the ÖBB. The route could have been taken over accordingly, according to the SPÖ. In a written request, the Braunau SPÖ member of the state parliament Gabriele Knauseder is now turning to FPÖ infrastructure state councilor Günther Steinkellner: Which projects for the renovation and modernization of the rail infrastructure have been realized on the house backway in the past ten years? Has there been a shortening of the travel time?
