President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to speak at one of the upcoming plenary sessions of the European Parliament (EP). This was announced on the evening of February 16 by the press service of the head of state.
Earlier, Deputy Head of Zelensky’s office Igor Zhovkva had a telephone conversation with the head of the Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament, Alessandro Chiocchetti, during which he received an invitation for the Ukrainian President.
“On behalf of the head of state, the deputy head of the president’s office thanked Volodymyr Zelensky for inviting him to speak at one of the upcoming EP plenary sessions,” the message says.
On February 15, the European Parliament approved the decision of the Council of the European Union to provide Ukraine with a package of macro-financial assistance in the amount of €1.2 billion.
The funds will be used to support macroeconomic stabilization and a program of fundamental reforms in the country. The money will be transferred in two tranches of €600 million during the year.
