After a long wedding celebration: couple Bezos left Venice

The change of name on social media was promptly – while the wedding celebration was still ongoing on the island of San Giorgio during the night of Saturday. On her social networks, “Lady Amazon” posted photos of her wedding dress of the Milan fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, which was designed exclusively for the fashion magazine Vogue. On the finger, the bride wore a new 40-carat diamond ring, plus earrings with four diamonds, sanded from a single stone, as well as a pearl bracelet with the new initials “LB”.

Last day of the celebrations of protests overshadowed

The last day of the celebrations was overshadowed by protests on Saturday. At least 500 people demonstrated against the luxury wedding. With slogans such as “Bezos, out of the lagoon”, the demonstrators pulled through the historical center of the city plagued by over -tourism and environmental problems. On the famous Rialo bridge over the Grand Canal, activists ignited smoke bombs and unrolled a huge banner with the inscription “No Space for Bezos”. During the demonstration on Saturday, participants also wore signs with inscriptions such as “Eat the Rich”.

The criticism was not only against Bezos, but also against the mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, which was called “corrupt”, and from the perspective of the protesters the interests of the city population to the super -rich sacrifice. Brugnaro immediately rejected the allegations and explained that the Bezos wedding was a great advertising for the lagoon city.

In response to the criticism of his luxury wedding, Bezos announced a donation of three million euros in favor of institutions that are devoted to the protection of Venice – including the city of the city.
