Survey: One in four firmly rejects compulsory vaccination

In an online survey by the market and opinion research institute Integral, 61 percent of the participants rated it “very or rather good”. However, one in four rejects them decisively. For the so-called Integral Onlinebus, 1,000 people representative of the Austrian population aged 16 to 69 were surveyed on this topic in January.

Ten percent are still determined not to be vaccinated against the Covid 19 virus. According to Integral, just under six months ago this was still 17 percent. Apparently, however, the strong fourth corona wave in autumn and the announcement of compulsory vaccination have influenced readiness.

The majority of the participants did not see the fact that the omicron variant makes immunization superfluous because it is milder. On the contrary, two-thirds (69 percent) are of the opinion that it is mainly thanks to the booster vaccination that the most recent wave has only had comparatively few severe courses. This contrasts with 15 percent who are firmly convinced that the pandemic will pass with Omikron and that vaccination will be superfluous. Another 15 percent are “rather convinced” of this.
