President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed creating a global security treaty for the country, which would be signed by Russia and the United States, among other things. According to him, it is enough to write down three to five points on the security of Ukraine in the document. He spoke about this in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency, published on February 17.
“We need a global document. We will not get off with the Normandy format team and no one will get off. The powers that be, including the States and Russia, will sit down and sign that there is such a way,” Zelensky said.
The document, according to him, should contain “three-four-five” points on the security of Ukraine. At the same time, Zelensky explained, the country expects to receive a legal system of guarantees that would not be inferior to the one offered to NATO member states.
At the same time, he noted that Kiev has a long way to go before full-fledged membership in the alliance – months and years.
On the same day, the Ukrainian leader said that statements about the dates of the alleged Russian invasion and the panic that is happening because of them are working against Ukraine. According to him, it doesn’t even matter who is the subject of the dissemination of this information, it hits both Kiev and Moscow equally “strongly”. Such tension, he believes, could last for a long time.
Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly refuted such statements, emphasizing that it has no plans to invade a neighboring country. On February 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, said that the propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies about “Russian aggression” against Ukraine pursues provocative goals, thereby encouraging the authorities in Kiev to sabotage the Minsk agreements and harmful attempts to resolve by force “Problems of Donbass”.
