Israel will stop requesting the sanitary pass due to the drop in infections

At the beginning of the month, the Government had already eliminated the obligation to have the so-called green passport to enter cafes, restaurants, bars, sports centers or hotels, although it maintained it for other places, such as concert halls and cinemas.

The week also saw the protests of thousands of Israelis who went to Jerusalem in cars and trucks from various parts of the country to repudiate the sanitary restrictions, in the so-called “Freedom Caravan”, following the initiative born in Canada and imitated in several countries. .

That caravan sought to reach the Parliament (Knesset) and generated huge traffic jams on Monday.

Israel was one of the first states to launch a major vaccination campaign, in December 2020, based on an agreement with the American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, and almost half of its population has already received three doses.

Towards the end of January, the authorities had announced that those over 18 years of age who are immunocompromised or on the front line of the fight against the coronavirus could access a fourth dose.
