Dramatic minutes took place late Wednesday afternoon on the route of the Summerauer Bahn in the direction of Linz near Pregarten. After a 25-year-old train driver feared that she had hit a woman with her train set, the route was closed to all rail traffic.
A field service patrol with helpers from the volunteer fire brigade immediately searched the area around the tracks near the Pregartsdorf bridge. When they met a confused-looking woman. The emergency services brought them to safety.
As it turned out, the 74-year-old woman had just left the district nursing home where she was receiving short-term care and wanted to walk home along the tracks, according to the police. Just as the train was approaching, she tripped and fell next to the tracks. And that probably saved her life. The woman sustained injuries in the fall. After receiving first aid, she was brought back to the district home for the elderly.
