The violence center of Upper Austria advises around 4,000 people per year. Much of them are women who are mainly affected by male violence. The premises in Linzer Stockhofstrasse have long been not enough for this, which is why additional office space had to be rented – a cumbersome solution that Managing Director Eva Schuh would rather leave behind today than tomorrow. And that could succeed soon.

Today, the design advisory board of the city of Linz discussed an increase in the corner building in Stockhofstrasse 40, in which Volkshilfe also maintains offices. The six -storey building is to be expanded by two attic.

Optimal location

The location is optimal for the violence protection center because it is near the train station and many clients do not come from Linz. The building also offers many small offices that are well suited for advice. The design advisory board had no fundamental objections, only the coloring has to be improved and a planned second attic gaep would be omitted.

Green light on the Römerberg

In the second attempt green light, a construction project in Römerstraße 76. The project was discussed in the media because a historical building was demolished – much to the resentment of the residents, which quickly founded a citizens’ initiative.

For the draft, there was praise from the advisory board at the first attempt, but not for the entrance situation that was dominated by parking spaces and a garbage island. The builders moved the parking spaces underground, the garbage into the building and convinced with a detailed green space concept.
