1.5 tons of cannabis imported: Styrian police blew drug ring

Drugs, guns and stab weapons and around 100,000 euros in cash were secured. The perpetrators were brutally against debtors and for intimidation and punishment against their own people, according to investigators on Wednesday in Graz. 42 suspects were convicted and arrested, including the main perpetrators.

The investigation had been carried out for a few years, arrests were then carried out in various European countries such as Spain and the Czech Republic. There have also been convicts, reported police officers of the addictive area in the Styrian State Criminal Police Office and from investigative groups in Upper Styria. The drug ring had been active since at least 2019, and investigations have been conducted since 2022.

Assault rifles and drug cases

A total of 42 suspects were caught in the area of ​​Eastern Upper Styria over the years. The main suspects were people from the Balkans, on the other hand from Chechnya, Syria and Morocco, but also Austrian citizens. In various raids, around 11.5 kilograms of cocaine, 80 kilograms THC-containing cannabis, 10 kilograms of cannabis resin and around 250 grams of amphetamine were secured. In addition, there were substances such as magnesium powder to stretch the cocaine. Cash of around 95,000 euros was also confiscated. The weapons included swords, axes, impact rings and pistols and revolvers as well as semi -automatic assault rifles and a large amount of ammunition.
