A major fire broke out on the Euroferry Olympia cruise ship with 237 passengers and 51 crew members on board off the coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea. This was reported on February 18 by Skai.gr.
According to the Ministry of Shipping, none of the passengers were injured, lifeboats were delivered to the liner.
According to journalists, the cruise ship cruised along the Igoumenitsa-Brindisi route and was in Ereikus at the time of the fire. The source of ignition, presumably, was on the deck of the third floor. The captain requested the evacuation of the ship. Three Coast Guard ships, tugboats and boats immediately arrived at the scene, the newspaper notes.
Earlier, on February 3, it was reported that a fire broke out on a refrigerator ship at the berth in the port of Vladivostok. At the same time, 18 people who were on board managed to evacuate the ship before the arrival of emergency personnel.
There were no injuries or deaths in the incident. The fire damaged the ship in an area of 10 sq. m.
