Master in the highest amateur league in the federal state-the Union Dietach has made something extraordinary with the title in the past Upper League season. “For me, everything is still surreal. But it is no accident either,” says Dietach President Christian Prechtl. The decisive factors when marching through to the regional league? “The fact that we are number one in the region is the result of a consistent, continuous work. It was pure team spirit, this team brought such a great passion and willpower, I am so proud of the team.”

The best team in autumn, best team in spring, first in the home and away table, as well as top defensive in the Upper Austria league (only 20 goals)-all of these ingredients ultimately led to the sovereign championship title. Even setbacks, like the serious injury of top player Denis Berisha at the beginning of the spring season, could not brake the green-blacks. “We never left our way, always believed in ourselves. What we have done in recent years is unique,” master coach Daniel Ruttensteiner is also proud.
The triumph for defense chief Alberto Prada was special: the 36-year-old Spaniard, who, as a professional for Ried, Wiener Neustadt and Vorwärts Steyr, played 196 games in Austria’s professional leagues and had his career ended in Dietach in the past two years, was allowed to manage a master plate for the first time last season. Captain Mario Reiter was no less great. For the 38-year-old veteran, the eighth title of his career was one of the most beautiful: “You couldn’t expect this title. I am very grateful to the boys, it’s almost kitsch.”
Reconscent as a big goal
The majority of the championship team can prove themselves in the third highest league: With blue-white-Linz cooperation player Matthias Wetschka, Samuel Hödl (St. Peter), Stefan Celic (Ried II), Paul Schwaiger and Eman Lidjan (both forward Steyr), young forces came above all who want to present themselves on the regional league stage. The goal is clear to Ruttensteiner: “The regional league is another category. We want to arrive in the league and keep the class.”
Shock moment as a drive
“The goal of the championship title is now a long way off with this injury,” said Dietach coach Daniel Ruttensteiner after the serious knee injury by top player Denis Berisha in the second spring round near St. Martin (1: 2). While some have already written off the 35-year-old team in the master race due to that shock moment, the bitter news in his team even released a positive drive. Berisha himself always believed in his colleagues: “I was sure that it would continue because the cohesion is so strong, I’m extremely proud of the team.”
