In a joint interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” Christian Klein von SAP and Roland Busch von Siemens advocated a new framework that promotes innovations instead of hindering them. The European AI Act is one of the reasons “why we can’t go full throttle here,” said Busch.
The regulations are partly contradictory and overlap with existing laws. According to the preliminary report, the Data Act described the data act as “toxic for the development of digital business models”.
Change of data rules required
Busch said that he had deliberately not signed a fire letter from industrial representatives to the EU Commission, which demands a moratorium of the rules, “because he didn’t go far enough”. It is not about exposing the rules only for a while. “In the meantime, we have to change the law substantially,” said the Siemens boss. A change in data rules should have priority before investing in data centers. “We are sitting on a treasure trigger in Europe, but we have not yet got it up yet,” said Busch.
