A few days after her rescue from the Australian wilderness, a German backpacker thanked all helpers emotionally. The 26-year-old Carolina Wilga was missing for twelve days before a passer-by accidentally discovered her on Friday in the outback. “I am simply infinitely grateful that I survived”, quoted Australian media from a message from the hospital in Perth, where she should recover from what you have experienced.

Her car had already been discovered on Thursday in the dense Buschland of the huge Karrooun Hill Nature Reserve – but the young woman was missing any trace. Wilga now told for the first time what exactly happened.
