Powerful explosion at gas pipeline in Luhansk

In Luhansk, on the night of February 19, there was a strong explosion on the gas pipeline. The footage shows a bright yellow glow illuminating the city at night.

According to the press service of the state unitary enterprise of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (SUE LNR) “Luganskgaz”, emergency teams left for the gas pipeline area in Malaya Vergunka after calls about a major fire.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as law enforcement agencies are also working on the spot.

There were no reports of casualties. The circumstances and causes of the incident are being clarified.

The explosion occurred against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Donbass and the subsequent evacuation of those wishing to Russia.

On February 18, the LPR announced eight shellings by the armed forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the current day. It was noted that Prishib, Zholobok, Zelenaya Roshcha, Veselenkoe, Molochny, Kalinovka, Sanzharovka and Kalinovo were shelled.

In turn, the representative office of the DPR at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) reported that the Ukrainian security forces had fired 68 mines and shells across the territory of the republic since the beginning of the day.

In addition, in the center of Donetsk, a car explosion occurred at about 19:00 (coincides with Moscow time) near the building of the government of the DPR. The car belonged to the head of the People’s Militia of the DPR, Denis Sinenkov. The car explosion is a sabotage, which indicates the preparation of Ukrainian military personnel for an offensive in the Donbass. The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, announced the sabotage.

As Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, pointed out in an interview with Izvestia, the DPR decision to evacuate residents was made in order to avoid civilian casualties against the backdrop of a deteriorating situation. He noted that the self-proclaimed republics have information that indicates Ukraine’s plans for a military solution to the problem of Donbass.

Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict. The issues of its settlement are being discussed in the Minsk and Normandy formats.
