The white van had caught fire for an unknown cause when driving in the municipal area of Micheldorf (Kirchdorf an der Krems district). According to the emergency services, the driver reacted in an exemplary manner: When he noticed the smoke, the car steered on a free area next to the federal road, brought himself to safety and set an emergency call. The fire brigade said that his prudent behavior had contributed significantly to avoiding further dangers.
Police officers started extinguishing measures
The local fire brigade was alerted at 1:17 p.m. under the keyword “Brand car outdoors”. When the comrades arrived at the scene next to the federal road, the minibus was already completely on fire. Police officers started a first fire-fighting attack using fire extinguishers together with the crew of the fire brigade command vehicle.
