Cash reform: Stocker against reversal

“I believe that it would not be effective to turn five cash registers back into 21,” said Stocker in the Ö1 “evening journal”. Conversely, however, one had to question whether the goals of the reform at that time had also been achieved. Chamber of Labor President Renate Anderl, in turn, called for the past to correct mistakes of the past.

The debate about the cash reform was flamed again at the weekend when Tyrolean Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) described the merger of the area health insurance companies as an error (ÖGK) and asked for a “reform of the reform”. Stocker referred to the reform partnership agreed with the federal states and municipalities, which is due to bring about a larger administrative reform in the next 18 months. In this context, changes or improvements should be discussed, said Stocker. It is clear that there should be such. “But a step backwards would not be effective.”
