The accident had occurred in Auwiesen on Wednesday morning: as reported, a truck had touched the bridge with a crane lift, which then collapsed over the truck. A 40 to 50 tons weighed concrete piece clamped the handlebar (22) and its passenger (18).

After an elaborate rescue operation, the two seriously injured men could be freed. They were brought to the Kepler University Hospital and operated on. From there there was positive news on Thursday: the two Mühlviertler are not in mortal danger. The 18-year-old is still treated in the intensive care unit, but his condition is stable. The 22-year-old could already be brought to the normal ward.

When the first rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident, it was not clear whether the two inmates of the truck were still alive, but then the fire brigade managed to contact the two men from the Rohrbach district. Both were available. However, it took around two hours before the handlebar and finally his passenger could be released. A total of 110 forces from fire brigade, rescue and police were deployed, including a team of doctors from the Kepler Clinic. According to operations manager of the Red Cross, the doctors had found polytrauma among the injuries.
