The fire could be quickly brought under control.

At 18:54, the fire brigades All Saints’ Lebing and Perg were alerted on Sunday: for a previously unknown cause, a combine harvester caught fire in the middle of a field. Six farmers present reacted quickly and were able to largely contain the fire until the fire brigades arrived with several fire extinguishers.

The firefighters carried out the extinguishing work with severe respiratory protection. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check the vehicle for embers and to be able to delete them in a targeted manner. The combine harvester burned out completely.

“It was very lucky that the farmers were quickly on hand with fire extinguishers. This made the work very easier for us, so we were able to quickly control the fire and prevent the fire from spreading further,” said Gerhard Panhofer, commander of the Perg fire brigade, in an interview with the OÖN. After almost two hours, the assignment was over and the fire brigades were able to move in again. A total of 25 firefighters were deployed.
