On Tuesday, the Innsbruck diocesan bishop Hermann Glettler criticized the approach of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. “This devastating catastrophe has to be ended,” said Glettler.

The killing of civilians, as is repeated by Israel’s military at distribution centers for relief goods, could not be justified by anything. Glettler demanded that killing, starvation and the systematic destruction of the livelihood of the Palestinian population must be stopped immediately. Every silence and every look as well as the criminalization of solidarity ratings are a “betrayal of our humanity”.

The bishop had visited the International Court of Justice (IGH) in the Hague on Monday. He said that those responsible on both sides of the conflict would have to answer for the war crimes they have committed to the highest international criminal court (ICC).

More than 1000 dead close to auxiliary centers

The UN accused Israel’s army on Tuesday that they have killed more than a thousand Palestinians near the new relief goods distribution centers since the end of May. According to Mohammed Abu Salmija, head of the formerly largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, 21 children have died of malnutrition and hunger in several clinics in the Palestinian area alone in the past three days alone.
