The adult team “Lemon Ice” brought the gold medal to Traun for the 13th time in a row at the national championships for Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Salzburg in Gmunden. The ladies put on an excellent performance, earning the highest score in their 14-year history.
The performance can be rated even higher in that the training and competition break as a result of the corona pandemic lasted more than a year. In addition, several failures in January prevented participation in international competitions.
The junior team “Crazy Lemons”, which was founded five years ago and has been part of the Austrian national squad since 2020, has also presented itself in the best possible light. After first place at the International Amade Cup in Salzburg in January, the gold medal at the state championships came as no great surprise. But it is a confirmation of the constant work and good performance of the coaches and runners.
Since the autumn of last year, the good youth work at the 1.USC Traun has made it possible for young talents from Traun to distinguish themselves throughout Austria. Four runners from the junior team “Crazy Lemons” also train several times a month with the “Sweet Mozart Mixed Age” team, led by the Salzburg Sport Union, together with runners from Tyrol and Salzburg. At the national championships in Gmunden, the team had its first competition and showed a lively and flawless program, which was also awarded gold.
