The escape itself was short-lived: the officers discovered him hiding behind the screen of a rubbish dump in the nearby camp alley. The self-made bike had a number of serious technical defects and apparently had a retractable number plate for camouflage, the state police said on Sunday.
Risky maneuvers
Police officers noticed a group of motorcyclists driving south at around 4:30 p.m. on Griesplatz on Saturday. One particularly loud machine stood out, as a police officer said. At the sight of the police officers, the 19-year-old driver swerved from the group and fled. Apparently the man had no license plate mounted on the machine. The officials drove after him, the driver tried to escape them with sometimes risky driving maneuvers – even against the one-way street.
Garbage dump terminus
Finally, the end of the line was at the garbage dump. During the inspection, the police officers noticed several serious defects in the machine, which was assembled from different parts and was not typed. Among other things, the young man had installed a retractable license plate holder. The license plate was taken from the 19-year-old, and he should also be rid of his driver’s license later on.
