“We are pleased that we can play in our hometown again after a long time. Last year we were there as a visitor and were a little jealous of the musicians. The greater the joy that we can stand on the stage at the Rieder Summer Festival this year,” said Kurt Berger from the Skybirds yesterday at a press conference. The band first appeared in 1976 and celebrated its 50th anniversary next year. The Skybirds will appear on Thursday, August 14, the opening day of the three -day festival, at 8.30 p.m. on the lower main square. A colorful program will be offered to visitors in Ried by Saturday. After the success of the smaller version of the Rieder Stadtfest with thousands of visitors in the previous year, a new edition was the logical consequence. The time for the team of the Messe Ried, which has also taken over the tasks of city marketing since the beginning of 2023, is a major challenge. “Three weeks later, the big Rieder Rieder Agricultural and Autumn Fair will start on September 4th. The folk festival starts on August 28,” said Helmut Slezak in his double function as managing director of the city marketing and trade fair director. “After the successful premiere in 2024, we again span a great bow from children’s program to brass music to rock and Italian classics. Culinary and the Rieder hospitality complete the summer festival,” emphasized Slezak.

There was praise for the Slezak team from Ried’s Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner: “The decision to combine the agendas of the trade fair and city marketing was absolutely right. Respect for the fact that such a festival would be put up in a big trade fair year.”
Harleys, concert and football
Especially on Saturday it will take place in Ried. The trade attracts the Rieder bargain days all day, from 6 p.m. there is a meeting of the Great Harley Davidson Charity Tour with Vespas. In the evening the Charity Tour Live Band plays on stage. The Bundesliga game between SV Ried and Sturm Graz (7.30 p.m.) takes place more or less at the same time in the Innviertel Arena.
On Thursday, August 7th, a “Moonlight” with live music from Birdland and an extensive culinary offer of the hosts will take place in the car -free Rainerstrasse. Also on August 7th (7.30pm), a brass music concert by the Stadtkapelle Ried under the direction of Lukas Springer takes place at the main square.
