Truth, Trump’s social network, is ready to compete with Twitter

It is reported by the American press based on a comment from an executive of the firm, who explained that a trial version tested by some users, about 500, was made.

Led by former Republican Congressman Devin Nunes, Trump Media & Technology Groupthe startup behind Truth, will welcome tech companies that are positioning themselves as “champions of freedom” and competing with Twitter, Facebook and Youtubewhere the tycoon was banned after his publications around the assault on the Capitol.

In October, Trump announced that he would launch the platform, dubbed Truth Social, with the aim of “challenging the tyranny of Big Tech.”

Screenshots of Truth Social posts by its product manager circulated on Saturday, saying the app would go public this Monday.

“We are currently scheduled for release in the Apple app store on Monday, February 21,” said an executive named Billy B. in the app, according to Business Insider.

As of Saturday, the listing for Truth Social in the Apple App Store still said: “Expected February 21, 2022.”

The launch of Truth Social will mark Trump’s return to social media after he was banned from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube last year in the wake of the Jan. 6 insurrection on Capitol Hill.

“Time for some Truth” (“Time for some truth”, in play on words), Donald Trump Jr. wrote days ago in a tweet accompanied by a screenshot of Truth Social that collected the former president’s first post on that platform : “Get Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!” (“Get ready! Your favorite president will see you soon!”)

Insiders, based on these image posts, argue that Donald Trump’s team appears to have skipped innovation on Truth Social altogether in order to just covertly copy the social network from which the former president was kicked out last year.

The icons for comments, retweets and likes (and also the verified user label in Truth Social) present only very slight differences with those of Twitter and their arrangement is also identical, they reported.

Donald Trump’s username on Truth Social is also exactly the same as the one he used to use on Twitter (@realdDonaldTrump) and on his new social network the tycoon uses the same photo he used on the microblogging network.

The only slightly different thing about Truth Social seems to be the colors. The verification “badge” on this social network is red (in a shade similar to the Republican Party logo) and not blue, which is the color of Democrats in the United States.
