Brad Pitt has now sued Angelina Jolie for selling her share of the Chateau Miraval winery to a Russian oligarch without his permission. In 2008, the ex-husbands jointly acquired the Château Miraval in Correns between Marseille and Nice. Angelina Jolie would have paid 40 percent of the original purchase price of around 25 million euros. Brad Pitt is said to have paid the rest himself. However, it was he who made the winery profitable. Angelina Jolie has had nothing to do with it since 2013 at the latest. According to Pitt, there was always an agreement that neither of them could sell their shares without the consent of the other.
Joint winery sold
Angelina Jolie announced in July 2021 that she had reached an agreement with a buyer. In September, as part of the divorce process, Pitt’s attorneys said he did not approve of the sale. He did not want a subsidiary of a large Russian vodka producer to buy into his winery, it was said in October last year.
Jolie nevertheless sold to a company called Tenute del Mondo. According to court documents, “Angelina Jolie intentionally hid the details of the deal and never obtained permission to sell.” The Oscar winner claims that the Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, who controls the Tenute del Mondo company, makes it impossible for him to continue to run the winery efficiently.
